The Miami International Film Festival (MIFF) has been organized by the Miami Film Society since 1983.
This year the festival offers 6 categories of films, including the ‘Knight Competition' for feature films made by film makers who have already directed at least one film officially selected by the festival organisers. The other categories are the ‘Lexus Ibero-American Feature Film', ‘Hispanic and Ibero-American movies', the ‘Knight Documentary Award' for various documentaries, the ‘Shorts Competition' for short films, and the ‘Jordan Alexander Ressler Screenwriter Competition', which is an audience award. Finally, there is a new category called the ‘Cineslam', a contest between films directed by Miami's film students.
