From Tunis, it will take only an hour to drive to Bizerte, a small city that has kept all of its Tunisian charm, where it's nice to take a walk on a sunny day, cooled off by the sea breeze. Start at the lovely fishing port, where boats of all colours collide to the gentle rhythm of the ripples in the water. Houses with white facades and blue doors face century-old walls that surround the Kasbah on the other side of the canal. From there, the view of the city is incredible. Below, aisles of the souk are bustling with the cries of the merchants. Further ahead lies the Fort d'Espagne, or Spanish Fort, transformed into what is now an outdoor theatre that hosts many performances, including the International Festival of Bizerte. From this magical viewpoint, all the wonders of the city unfold before you.
